Less than two years ago, Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield were teammates at the University of Oklahoma, hoping to help lead the Sooners – one as a backup, the other as a starter – to college football glory. Now, the former teammates are entrenched as franchise quarterbacks for two of the NFL's most downtrodden franchises. The friendly spirit of competition between them that was surely evident on a daily basis in Norman, though, has carried over to the professional ranks.

After an Oklahoma football fan account tweeted a photo of the Arizona Cardinals and Cleveland Browns quarterbacks donning darkened visors during their respective teams' recent practices, Kyler Murray took the opportunity to call on Mayfield to switch up his headgear.

Mayfield quickly answered in the negative, putting the No. 1 overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft in his proper place as a first-year player.

Murray succeeded Mayfield last season as Oklahoma's starting quarterback, guiding his team to an appearance in the College Football Playoff. He threw for 4,361 yards, 42 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing 69.0 percent of his passes as a first-year starter, also rushing for 1,001 yards and 12 touchdowns, en route to Heisman Trophy honors.

Mayfield, the Heisman winner in 2017, was also a No. 1 overall pick of the draft. He quickly lived up to that billing during his debut season with the Cleveland Browns, taking over as a starter in Week 4 as the team, which went winless in 2017, went on to go 6-7. Mayfield was the driving force behind Cleveland's success, too, igniting a previously dormant offense by throwing for 3,725 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.
