There has been much speculation made about who could be in the booth for Monday Night Football next season. At the least, we know it won't be the crew that handled games in 2019. According to Richard Deitsch of The Athletic, ESPN will have a new announcing team for Monday Night Football in 2020.

Over the past two years, Joe Tessitore and Booger McFarland have held crucial roles on Monday Night Football. In addition, back in 2018, Jason Witten was also in the booth before he decided to unretire and rejoin the Dallas Cowboys.

Despite their efforts, fans have been voicing their displeasure for Monday Night Football's current crew. Therefore, it's evident that ESPN hears the fans and knows a change needs to be made.

While it remains to be seen who replaces them, it's clear that ESPN plans on replacing them internally. Alhough earlier this offseason, it was reported that ESPN pursued Peyton Manning for the job. Besides Manning, ESPN allegedly attempted to pair him with Al Michaels, to no avail.

On the other hand, Drew Brees accepted a role at NBC Sports once he retires, giving ESPN even fewer external options. With Manning and Brees no longer available, it appears that ESPN is going to try and find short-term options for next season.

Given the number of personalities at ESPN, the possibilities of who they could choose are endless. In all likeliness, ESPN could wait and see who the fans would prefer before making a final decision on who will be in the booth on Monday Night Football in 2020.
