The goal for every NFL team is to win a Super Bowl. Unfortunately, only one team can do so each season. That's why front offices grind in the offseason, scour the free agent market and scout the upcoming NFL Draft: to assemble the best team possible forward for a possible Super Bowl run. Most times, those offseason tweaks are enough to put together a strong team ready to compete. But sometimes, new opportunities present themselves that may not have been there during the offseason that teams pounce upon to make their teams even better. The Eagles just did that with their acquisition of Tennessee Titans safety Kevin Byard before the NFL trade deadline.

The Eagles are already one of, if not, the best teams in the NFL and they just addressed one of the biggest weaknesses of their entire roster by acquiring Byard, who has made two first-team All-Pro teams in his career and did so as recently as two years ago. The Eagles are pushing their chips to the table. There are a couple of other teams who should be doing the same before the NFL trade deadline.

Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills have remained patient with their approach to team building. There isn't anything wrong with that in the slightest, but they also have come up short of the AFC Championship in every season with Josh Allen at quarterback. This is a team with Super Bowl aspirations, so that isn't good enough, and this year's team isn't as robust as previous Bills teams.

Injuries have really taken their toll on the Bills so far, with cornerback Tre'Davious White out for the season with a torn Achilles, linebacker Matt Milano also out for the season with a broken leg, and Da'Quan Jones on injured reserve with a pectoral injury. That has led to the Bills being nowhere near as robust as people have gotten accustomed to them being.

That's not even beginning to mention the immense burden that Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs carry for this offense. Diggs is responsible for 31.6% of Buffalo's receptions, 33% of their targets, 36.8% of their receiving yards, and 40% of their receiving touchdowns. Allen is second on the team in rushing yards and is still Buffalo's leading candidate to convert short yardage situations.

They need NFL trade deadline reinforcements defensively and a weapon or two on offense to take some pressure off of Diggs. If they could swing a trade for Derrick Henry, Jerry Jeudy, or a linebacker like Jordan Hicks, or a multitude of those players, they could really shift the dynamic of their team back in their favor. But injuries are hurting the Bills right now.

Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions have done a great job being methodical with their approach and building through the draft, but it might not hurt them to hit the accelerator button. The Lions control their destiny in the NFC North, where they lead the second-place Minnesota Vikings by two games. They're looking like the runaway favorites to win that division, but their 38-6 blowout loss at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens was perhaps a humbling experience to show they aren't at the upper echelon of the NFL yet. That is, if they don't add more reinforcements defensively.

The Lions rank 28th in ESPN's pass rush win rate. They are short on cornerbacks after Emmanuel Mosley suffered a torn ACL and Jerry Jacobs missed the loss to the Ravens. There could be plenty of pass rushers potentially available on the trade market, such as Minnesota's Danielle Hunter, Green Bay's Preston Smith, or Carolina's Brian Burns. If the Lions could add one of those and snag a corner before the NFL trade deadline, they're going to be a real handful, if they aren't already.
