The recent incident involving 29-year old Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin caught the attention of the entire sports world. Several NFL teams have already postponed practices in order to address the matter at hand. The Arizona Cardinals are looking to do their part and let their voice be heard during these times.
Cardinals nose tackle Corey Peters bared some of the plans that the team is currently considering:
Article Continues Below“Just in some of our private conversations, there’s been a variety of things that come up, some more extreme than others,” Peters said, via Howard Balzer of SI.com. “But we’ve talked about a wide variety of ways to protest and a boycott in Week One, obviously, that’s something that has been discussed. But I think as far as the next steps, I don’t think we’re there yet. We’re still trying to talk with some of the leaders on the team and trying to figure out what’s the best way to make the biggest impact.
Cardinals left tackle D.J. Humphries chimed in and preached patience to his teammates, cautioning them against reacting when emotions are raw.
The majority of the NFL became more involved after the NBA saw their own teams boycott their playoff games in response to the issue. The NBA recently postponed a total of nine scheduled games since Wednesday and is set to resume play on Saturday after the league and its players eventually found themselves on the same page.
The Cardinals' opening game on September 13 against the San Francisco 49ers should see what actions the team will pursue in response to the matter.
