It appears as if Kyler Murray will be able to finish his memorable rookie season. After entering the weekend questionable to play in the Arizona Cardinals' season finale against the Los Angeles Rams, the No. 1 overall pick is expected to play on Sunday, per Adam Schefter of ESPN, barring a setback to his hamstring.
Murray did not finish Week 16's resounding win over the Seattle Seahawks due to his hamstring. Backup Brett Hundley finished the game, going 4 of 9 passing for 49 yards. Murray went 11 of 18 passing for 118 yards and a touchdown. He also had six rushes for 40 yards.
Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury noted earlier in the week that he will only play Murray if he is 100%.
“I want him to be able to play his game,” the Cardinals coach said, via Bob McManaman of AZCentral. “Obviously, his ability to move and make plays with his feet and be confident doing that is a big part of that. I don’t want to put him out there if he’s not feeling 100 percent against a very good Rams’ defense and a very good defensive line that has gotten after people. That’s not fair to him. We'll make sure that he’s feeling great about the situation. If he’s not, I really like what I’ve seen from Brett in practice.”
Quietly, Murray has had a rookie year to remember. The Oklahoma Sooners product has tallied 3,397 yards, 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions on a 64.6% completion rate over the air. On the ground, he has 91 rush attempts for 544 yards and four touchdowns.
