In today’s episode of When On-Field Celebrations Go Bad, we feature Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons, who was placed by the team on injured reserve after hurting his ankle during last Sunday’s 23-0 home win over the New York Jets, per Nicki Jhabvala of the Denver Post.

With this development, Simmons will no longer be able to play for the remainder of Denver’s campaign.

Simmons sustained what Broncos head coach Vance Joseph is calling a high ankle sprain while celebrating a strip-sack on Jets quarterback Josh McCown by Brandon Marshall. Simmons went up to give Marshall a body bump and landed on the latter’s right foot, thus forcing the second-year safety out of the game after playing just four total snaps.

The Broncos will try to plug the hole left on the defense by Simmons with Will Parks. Parks replaced Simmons on Sunday and finished the night with three total tackles. He'll occupy Simmons' spot again against the Indianapolis Colts when they face-off tomorrow on Thursday Night Football.

Simmons concludes his 2017 season with two interceptions and 68 tackles. The highlight of this year was a 65-yard touchdown return off a Jay Cutler interception, albeit during a 35-9 road loss to the Miami Dolphins back in Week 13.
