The Buffalo Bills haven't named their starting quarterback for the first regular season game but according to Ian Rapport of NFL Network, the team is “absolutely fine” with starting Nate Peterman.

When AJ McCarron went down with injury a lot believed that the keys would just be handed to rookie quarterback Josh Allen but Allen has struggled a bit during preseason and coach Sean McDermott told the media he has been impressed with Peterman's consistency.

“He has shown that consistency, which is good to see,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said Sunday night via New York Upstate. “(He) has shown some poise and understanding of how the NFL works in terms of defensive schemes. I've watched him grow and develop and (there is) still more work to do, but I think he … has been consistent, which is important at the quarterback position.”

In Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals Peterman completed 16 of his 21 pass attempts for 200 yards and a touchdown. He looked like he was in control of the offense and definitely looks like he has a better feel of the offense at this point of the preseason.

After the game, Peterman said that he is putting his best effort forward in hopes of winning the starting job for week one.

“There's things I feel that I could've definitely done better, even tonight, some plays I wish I had back, things I'll work on though and get better at,” Peterman said. “I'm going to be ready to go though regardless. You know, whatever the decision is, I'll be ready to play.”
