The New York Jets surprisingly released veteran Brian Winters on Sunday and it didn't take him long to find a new team. Just a day after the Jets sent him to free agency, Winters is signing with the Buffalo Bills, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Despite their efforts this offseason, New York doesn't necessarily have a formidable offensive line to begin with. Therefore, their decision to part ways with Winter this late in the offseason came as a surprise to many in the NFL. However, he didn't have to wait long before getting a chance to start for another team in 2020.

Winters began his career with the Jets as a third-round selection in the 2013 NFL Draft. In his first two seasons in New York, he would start in 18 games at left guard for the Jets. Then, in the past five seasons, Winters has made the move to right guard, starting in a total of 51 games.

Seeing that they released him this late in the offseason, the Jets have confidence that Alex Lewis and Greg Van Roten can handle the interior of the offensive line. On the other hand, the Bills could be getting a starting guard just in time for training camp.

In all likeliness, Winters is going to have a chance to earn a starting job for Buffalo ahead of the 2020 season. The Kent State product could replace either Quinton Spain or Jon Feliciano at one of the guard spots. Nonetheless, Winters is going to remain in the AFC East and hopes to show the Jets they made the wrong decision by releasing him.
