The Buffalo Bills and Carolina Panthers are set to play in Week 15. Quarterbacks Cam Newton and Josh Allen will take each other on as the signal-callers of their respective teams. The Bills' up-and-coming star has been compared to the Panthers veteran in the past. Newton dropped a truth bomb on the comparisons to Allen.
“Josh, he is his own player,” Newton said on Thursday. “Very talented throwing the football, as well as running the football. Very physical. And he just does a great job with making plays.”
It's easy to see why Allen is compared to Panthers signal-caller Cam Newton. Both quarterbacks are tall and built like linebackers, both have strong arms, and both have the ability to take off and pick up chunks of yards on a defense. Plus, Allen did just accomplish a feat that only a few other quarterbacks, including Newton, have done.
Newton, however, doesn't like those comparisons, but not for selfish reasons or anything like that. The Panthers quarterback believes that Allen is his own player for the Bills. Newton did note the similarities between the two but was firm in saying that the Bills quarterback is doing his own thing.
The Panthers star also added in a joke, saying that he's lucky that he doesn't have to face Allen personally, adding that that will be a task for the Carolina defense against the Bills star.
After all, Panthers star Cam Newton knows how hard it is to defend someone like Bills star Josh Allen, given how similar the two are.
