The Buffalo Bills have put in place potentially their next franchise cornerstone quarterback with the selection of former Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen with the seventh overall pick. It has placed him a spot where there is a tremendous level of expectations laid before him.
However, there have been questions of whether he can take steps forward in his development to become a stable option under center at the next level. General manager Brandon Beane recently stated that is willing to spend more to bring aboard the 21-year-old with their first-round pick. (h/t Buffalo Rumblings)

“Can I ask you a question? What did Philly pay for Carson Wentz?” Beane asked. “The point is, if you get your guy, then nobody will ever care. It’s about getting the guy. You can’t worry about that stuff.”
Regardless of the player being taken, it is a risk when it is a high selection given that it is a major financial commitment for high first-round selections. Allen enters the league with many question marks concerning his accuracy throwing the ball and footwork in the pocket.
The Bills appear more than willing to take that chance with him given his potential to grow into being a legitimate starting quarterback in the NFL. He has a tremendously strong arm and some great size for the position that should lend well at the next level. There is certainly much work to do in his development but is something that the front office is willing to work with that became quite evident them moving up to snag him.
Ultimately, it is something that time will tell if it was the right choice for the franchise to make to invest in him as being their long-term future under center.
