Josh Allen appears to be the future under center for the Buffalo Bills after being selected with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. It has been a long time since the Bills had a long-term quarterback option, but Allen certainly has given them exactly that.
Despite the fact that he has been dealing with a nagging elbow injury and has been forced to miss some time, the Bills are still extremely high on him.
Brandon Beane, the Bills' general manager, was recently asked about Allen in an interview with BuffaloNews.com. He made it clear that he is a big fan of the intangibles that Allen brings to the field.
“You know, Josh is a rookie. At the end of the day, there's plays that you really go, ‘Wow, that's what you want to see.' And then there's plays, you go, ‘That's what a rookie does.' We love who Josh is, his work ethic, his leadership and all those things.”
Throughout the first six games of his rookie season with the Bills, Allen has completed 54.0 percent of his pass attempts for 832 yards, two touchdowns, and five interceptions. He has also rushed for 155 yards and three touchdowns.
Obviously, there are quite a few areas that Allen will need to improve moving forward. His accuracy will need to improve, along with his decision-making.
That being said, Allen has an incredibly strong arm and has a great work ethic and a coachable attitude.
Assuming the Bills groom him the right way, Allen is going to be in Buffalo a long time. He has the arm to help take Buffalo back to playoff contention if they coach him right and build a solid roster around him.
