Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback Josh Allen apparently had no idea that his team went into their game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday as huge underdogs.
According to a report by Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, Allen's mind was far from thinking about the ridiculous +17 the Bills were against the spread. When asked by PFT if the Wyoming product was motivated by the lopsided line, Allen had a simple response.
“I didn’t even know,” Allen told PFT by phone after the victory.
If you watched any of the game, you'd believe that Allen had no idea he was an underdog at all. Not only did the Bills pull off the upset, they did it in dominant fashion.
Article Continues BelowBuffalo had their way with the Vikings, racing out to a 21-0 lead early in the game and cruising to their first win of the season. The rookie signal-caller played with poise, throwing a touchdown while rushing for two more. Allen also took care of the ball, taking on the one of the league's top defense and not turning the ball over.
The Bills defense stifled Kirk Cousins and the Vikings, forcing turnovers on their first two drives before allowing just one first down in the games opening 20 minutes. Buffalo did all this on the road, with a rookie quarterback and without their best offensive player in LeSean McCoy.
This game was a reminder that Vegas odds aren't always indicators of how the game is going to play out. As the saying goes, “that's why they play the game.”
