The Buffalo Bills were defeated by the Houston Texans in heartbreaking fashion and there was plenty of blame to go around. Following the contest, Josh Allen accepted blame for the Wild Card loss and says he needs to be “better.”
“Teams go how their quarterbacks go, and I have to be better for this team,” Allen said, via The Athletic. “We had our chances and we didn’t finish, and that’s on my shoulders. I will forever say that — that I’ve got to finish and I’ve got to be better for this team moving forward.”
As Allen alluded to, Buffalo had chances to put the game away and were unable to do so. In the third quarter, the Bills actually held a 16-0 lead over the Texans before Houston mounted an impressive comeback.
Additionally, Allen and the offense weren't able to take advantage of Houston's early struggles. Even with the Bills having a double-digit lead, they allowed the Texans to remain within striking distance.

But in today's NFL, it's hard to win games when your quarterback doesn't score a touchdown. On the other side of the field, in contrast, Deshaun Watson was the quarterback who made plays down the stretched needed to win the playoff game.
Without a doubt, Allen showed plenty of improvement in his second season as a starter in the NFL. However, Buffalo will need the young gunslinger to improve his game if they hope to learn from their loss on Saturday—and he realizes that.
