Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is scheduled to make his first career start on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers and running back LeSean McCoy wants to make life easy on him.

“One thing I'm going to talk to the offense about, especially the skill guys, for the rookie quarterback to have a good game for them is to make it easy on him,” McCoy said Wednesday, via NFL.com. “Hey, if he makes a wrong read and the ball is hard to catch, catch it. You might not get yards after the catch, but just catching the ball will give him confidence, moving the chains. … He's so young. If he gets going he gets more confidence each play, so that's something I want to talk to the guys about, just executing and making it easier for him.”

McCoy struggled in week one putting up only 22 yards and it's going to start with him getting a ground game going in week two. If Allen doesn't have to face third and long every possession that will help his chances of having a good game.

The Chargers have a good offense and the defense is going to need a rest which means the running game will be even more important. The Bills need to try and create a game plan that gets the ball out of Allen's hands quick and gets him some receptions early on to get his confidence up. There will no doubt some mistakes for Allen but it's going to be hard to get worse than what Nathan Peterman did last weekend.
