When the Buffalo Bills drafted Josh Allen last year, everyone knew about his arm strength, and now, we're at a point where Allen and Patrick Mahomes could have a throw-off to determine who has the stronger arm sometime in the future.

But while Bills head coach Sean McDermott acknowledges that Allen does have a cannon, he isn't all that concerned with how far he throws the ball. He is more worried him actually hitting his targets:

“All I care about really is that he throws the ball accurately,” McDermott said, according to The Buffalo News. “There's a debate out there about the strength of his arm and the debate with Patrick Mahomes, a great quarterback in and of itself.  The key right now is for Josh to grow in our offense and the thing about it is he has that growth mindset. He loves to learn, loves to grow, loves to compete.”

Given that Allen completed just 52.8 percent of his passes in what was an overall rough rookie year this past season, you can see why McDermott wants his young quarterback to focus on his precision.

Allen, who played his collegiate football at the University of Wyoming, was originally selected by the Bills with the 10th overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He went on to play in 12 games while making 11 starts for Buffalo during his rookie campaign, throwing for 2,074 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while posting a passer rating of 67.9.

The 23-year-old also made a lot of plays with his legs, rushing for 631 yards and eight scores.
