The Buffalo Bills are one of several teams s heading into the preseason with plenty of questions surrounding their quarterback situation.

Buffalo currently has three quarterbacks vying for the starting spot for the 2018 campaign in a wide-open race for the vaunted position. According to Joe Buscaglia of WKBW, head coach Sean McDermott is hoping to only inform the players about who will get the starting job for the preseason opener on Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers.

Through much of the offseason and the first week of training camp, the Bills have had both AJ McCarron and Nathan Peterman shift back and forth with the first-team snaps while rookie Josh Allen has been working with the second and third teams. It is clear the Bills will either give McCarron or Peterman the first crack at the starting job, unless Allen presenst a strong case in preseason action.

The Bills still have plenty of time to make a decision with their quarterback situation with about a month until the start of the regular season. It is clear they are willing to bring along Allen at his own pace in order to put him in the fold when he is ready to handle that huge responsibility. Meanwhile, McCarron and Peterman will get a fair shot at earning the starting job over the next few weeks in the preseason.

McDermott doesn't want the process to be influenced by any outside noise with it being firmly a choice of what's best for the team on the field next season. This first preseason game will give the coaching staff a chance to see where things currently stand at the position.
