Buffalo Bills newly re-signed head coach Sean McDermott has high confidence for his team.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, McDermott said that he promises to bring a championship to this team and to the city of Buffalo.

“It hasn’t been an easy lift, but we’ve moved it in a lot of ways. But that said, there’s more work ahead,” McDermott said, via The Athletic. “The reason I came here, the reason we work every day, is to bring a world championship to this team and this city and this fan base across the world. And that’s what we’re here to do.”

McDermott, who signed a six-year contract extension with the Bills on Wednesday, has done a phenomenal job coaching the team. He was named head coach of the Bills back in 2017, and in his three seasons with the team, he has led them to two playoff appearances, becoming the third coach in franchise history to accomplish that feat. Also, in McDermott’s first season coaching the Bills, he led them to their first playoff birth since 1999.

McDermott has a 25-23 record with the Bills, and that record has a high possibility of improving. General manager Brandon Beane and McDermott have positioned the Bills well for the future. This past season, they had one of the best seasons in recent years, finishing off with an astounding record of 10-6.

Furthermore, now that quarterback Tom Brady has left the New England Patriots, the Bills also have a high chance of winning the AFC East division for the first time since 1995.
