If anybody knows what type of head coach Kliff Kingsbury is, it's Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Kingsbury just took the job as head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, marking the first time he will test the NFL waters. Well, as a coach, anyway. He had a brief NFL playing career as a quarterback.

The 39-year-old is most known for his six-year stint as head coach of Texas Tech, where Mahomes played his collegiate football.

As for what Mahomes thinks of Kingsbury's prospects as an NFL coach? Let's just say he thinks highly of his former skipper:

“I think he can be a great NFL coach,” said Mahomes, according to Brooke Pryor of The Kansas City Start. “He has the work ethic. He has the passion for the game. He loves this sport, so I know he would be able to relate to quarterbacks. He would put in the work.”

Mahomes, who is in the MVP conversation this year after throwing for 5,097 yards, a league-leading 50 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while completing 66 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 113.8, played under Kingsbury for three years at Texas Tech.

The 23-year-old got progressively better each season, finally ending his Red Raiders career by throwing for 5,052 yards, 41 touchdowns and 10 picks while recording a completion percentage of 65.7 percent and a passer rating of 157 during his junior campaign.

Kingsbury will take over a Cardinals team that has missed the playoffs three straight years and has only made four postseason appearances since 1999 and just five overall since 1983.
