The Carolina Panthers have announced that tight end Greg Olsen re-fractured his foot in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys. There are currently no plans for Olsen to undergo surgery, and that the Panthers will evaluate his progress on a monthly basis.
The 33-year-old left the Panthers' Week 1 win over the Cowboys after injuring the foot. He was spotted wearing in a walking boot and on crutches after the game.
Olsen had surgery on this same foot last season. It caused him to miss a majority of the regular season, but he was able to return to the team during the home stretch. He ended up playing just seven games, recording 17 catches for 191 yards and one touchdown.

Olsen has been one of Cam Newton's most reliable receiving weapons over the past few years. Prior to his foot problems, he had recorded three-straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons from 2014-16. Olsen's absence now puts the onus on the team's receiving corps led by Devin Funchess, Torrey Smith, rookie DJ Moore, Jarius Wright, and running back Christian McCaffrey.
The Panthers also announced that offensive tackle Darryl Williams will be out for an extended period of time. Williams suffered a knee injury after a Dallas Cowboys player fell into it. After further evaluation, the team physician suggested that Williams undergo surgery to repair his undisclosed injury.
