The Carolina Panthers have a busy offseason ahead as the front office must make moves to improve the roster. The rumor mill has been buzzing lately, as the organization may look to trade Christian McCaffrey. However, Matt Rhule has other plans in mind.
According to David Newton, the Panthers may choose to keep Christian McCaffrey on the roster after all. Although the rumors claim he's on the trade block this offseason, Carolina may be looking to keep their superstar running back around.

Furthermore, McCaffrey could be in for a position change, per David Newton. The coaching staff may look to give Christian McCaffrey more playing time as a slot receiver. It's not an official move right now, but it's something to monitor as Carolina evaluates the roster moving forward.

Moving Christian McCaffrey from running back to receiver might be the best move for him. The Panthers superstar running back has dealt with injuries the last couple of years. Having him play as a slot receiver could elongate his career. He'd likely become a hybrid type of player like we've seen from Deebo Samuel and Cordarrelle Patterson.
This could be the new craze in the NFL. Having someone who can transition between wide receiver and running back gives an offense a ton of versatility. It also opens up opportunities for other players on the roster. We'll see what happens, but don't expect the Panthers to make a decision anytime soon.
It'll be interesting to see how the Panthers handle this upcoming offseason. There will be plenty of moves this team could make. However, one area they should focus on is the quarterback position.
