According to a Monday evening report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Carolina Panthers have added another defensive back to the mix. Schefter is reporting that the Panthers have agreed to a two-year free agent contract with Juston Burris.

The 26-year-old spent last season with the Cleveland Browns. Burris will reportedly earn a total of $8 million across the next two seasons.

Burris originally broke into the professional ranks of the NFL back in 2016 as a fourth-round pick by the New York Jets. After remaining with the Jets for two full seasons, he split the 2018 season between East Rutherford and Cleveland. He most recently spent his entire 2019 season as a member of the Browns after making his way over from the Jets the year before.

Burris encountered his best single-season effort as a professional defensive back last season. The veteran made some noise for the Browns just in time to cash in during free agency this spring. Over the course of 14 regular season games as a member of the Browns last season, Burris produced a career-high 32 total tackles. He also posted just one sack, one forced fumble, two interceptions and seven pass defenses. Prior to last season, Burris tallied just two picks and seven pass defenses as a NFL defender.

It is also worth noting that the Panthers were looking for some help in the defensive backfield. James Bradberry departed the Panthers, who has reportedly signed with the New York Giants. Bradberry reportedly signed a massive three-year, $45 million deal with $32 million guaranteed.
