Heading into the final week of the regular season, the Los Angeles Chargers are in contention for one of the last wild card spots in the AFC.
The Chargers will take the field with the services of running back Melvin Gordon, as he stated that he will play despite an ankle injury, according to Eric D. Williams of ESPN.
“I'm good,” Gordon said. “I'll be ready on Sunday.”
Gordon suffered a sprained ankle late in last Sunday's 14-7 win over the New York Jets, forcing him to exit the contest. Although he didn't practice on either Tuesday or Wednesday, he was able to participate in a limited basis on Thursday.

Gordon has put together another productive campaign, breaking the 1,000 rushing yard plateau for the first time in his career with 1,012 yards and eight touchdowns. He has also been a major factor as a receiver, hauling in a career-high 52 catches on 76 targets for a career-best 445 receiving yards and four touchdowns. If he's able to play, it will mark the first time that he has played every regular season in a single campaign.
Beyond needing a win over the Raiders, the Chargers need some help from other teams. At this point, the availability of Gordon is encouraging news for Los Angeles as they hope to sneak into the playoff field.
