Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield didn't hold back when discussing Myles Garrett's actions on Thursday night.

Mayfield said on FOX that Garrett — who ripped off the helmet of Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph, then hit him with it — will see a suspension come his way from the NFL, considering his actions were “inexcusable.”

“I didn’t see why it started, but it’s inexcusable. I don’t care, rivalry or not, we can’t do that. That’s kind of the history of what’s been going on here lately, hurting yourself, and that’s just endangering the other team. It’s inexcusable, he knows that. I hope he does now. It’s tough. We’ll see,” Mayfield said, via Pro Football Talk.

Mayfield said he doesn't think there is anything he could have done to halt Garrett. However, he is all too aware that he will not be on the team for a while.

“I don’t think there’s anything in that moment that I can really say to calm him down. The reality is he’s going to get suspended, we don’t know how long, and that hurts our team. We can’t do that. We can’t continue to hurt this team. It’s inexcusable,” Mayfield continued.

The sobering reality of this situation is that, no matter how it's spun, Garrett is in the wrong. He wielded a player's own helmet as a weapon on them. That is, as ESPN's Adam Schefter alludes to, assault. The NFL is expected to come down with the ban hammer. Mayfield will not get to share a field with one of the league's best for some period of time.
