The Cleveland Browns have been the most talked team in the NFL this offseason. There was already a ton of excitement around the team following their strong close to the 2018 season. Then the blockbuster trade for Odell Beckham Jr. sealed the deal that they would be the most hyped team all year long.
Beckham wasn't the only big acquisition they made. They also swung a trade for Pro Bowl pass-rusher Olivier Vernon. Pairing Vernon with former number one overall pick Myles Garrett will mean the Browns have one of the best pass-rushing duos in the league.
But they apparently aren't stopping there, and Cleveland could target another edge defender early in the draft later this month. NFL Network's Bucky Brooks thinks the Browns will draft Florida rusher Jachai Polite in the second round.
Polite was a potential first round pick, but his stock has plummeted after a poor combine where he reportedly didn't interview well.
However, Brooks isn't concerned about his work ethic.
“Watching him play, I am a huge believer that guys who expend great effort have a way of finding a way to be successful in the league. I know the Combine stuff, the poor interviews, the weight, all this, but when I watch him play, he plays hard,” Brooks said during a recent appearance on the ‘Move the Sticks' podcast from NFL Network, per Josh Edwards of 247Sports.
Brooks called him a “100 percent effort guy,” and thinks the best “team fit” for him is the Browns.
If Polite does end up going to Cleveland, quarterbacks in the AFC North are going to be very afraid of this pass-rushing group.
