Fox Sports talk-show host Colin Cowherd had some harsh words for Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield on Thursday, telling TMZ Sports that the rookie signal-caller needs to “grow up” and adding that the Browns won't make the playoffs next season.
To be fair to Cowherd, he also heaped some praise upon Mayfield, calling him “a gamer,” “tough,” and “really accurate.” He added that he does not dislike Mayfield, even calling him “incredibly charming.”
Of course, Cowherd and Mayfield have a checkered history, with the two engaging in a rather tense interview back in June and with Cowherd originally calling Mayfield “undraftable” due to a police video that showed Mayfield running from authorities.
Cowherd also said last summer that Mayfield was not worth the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, a sentiment that was actually held by many at the time.

As for Cleveland's playoff chances? Cowherd said the Browns will be competitive because they have too many good players to not win some games, but that they aren't beating the Pittsburgh Steelers and aren't going to be good enough to make the postseason.
Mayfield had one of the more impressive rookie campaigns we have seen out of a quarterback in quite some time, breaking Russell Wilson and Peyton Manning's rookie record of 26 touchdown passes by tossing 27 and adding 3,725 yards while completing 63.8 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 93.7.
Cleveland went 7-8-1, marking its best finish since winning 10 games all the way back in 2007. It will begin the 2019 season with Freddie Kitchens as its new head coach.
