Not long ago, David Njoku requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns ahead of the 2020 season. But it appears he's had a change of heart. In a tweet on Saturday, Njoku backed down on his trade demand and expressed his commitment to the Browns this season.
I’m all in Cleveland. Time to work.

Even though Njoku wanted to be traded, the Browns remained adamant that they weren't interested in appeasing to his demands. As a result, the former first-round pick realizes that his best option is likely to play out the upcoming season.
Last season, Njoku would miss the majority of the year after suffering a wrist injury in Week 2 versus the New York Jets. While he would return to the team later in the season, Njoku wouldn't see much of the field. Altogether, the Miami product caught just five passes for 41 yards in 2019.
Throughout the offseason, the Browns signed Austin Hooper to the richest contract for a tight end in the NFL. Meanwhile, Cleveland also took Harrison Bryant during the 2020 NFL Draft. Provided that, Njoku evidently became upset at what his role with the team was going to be in 2020.
However, under new head coach Kevin Stefanski, the Browns are expected to run more 12 personnel on offense. With Stefanski as their offensive coordinator, the Minnesota Vikings ran 12 personnel on 34 percent of their offensive snaps (second-most in the NFL). Therefore, there's room for Njoku and Hooper to have roles in the offense.
Njoku's best season came in 2018 when he hauled in 56 receptions for 639 yards and four touchdowns. After his trade request proved to be futile, Njoku is fully committed to helping the Browns achieve success this season.
