Newly-acquired Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson has been one of the most polarizing talents in the NFL right now. On one hand, he's one of the best young quarterbacks in the league right now, with a cannon arm and solid running game. However… his 22 sexual assault cases have soured a fair number of fans on him.

After Watson's surprising trade to the Browns, some fans made their feelings felt about the acquisition. The Cleveland Rape Crisis Center announced in a statement that it has received over a thousand donations after the former Texans QB headed to Ohio. The statement reads:

“We understand the story surrounding DeShaun Watson joining the… Browns team is triggering for far too many of our friends and neighbors. For those who need additional support, please know Cleveland Rape Crisis Center is available to you 24/7/365.”

Watson not being indicted by the grand jury on his sexual assault lawsuits has spurred NFL teams to try and acquire him. Before being shipped yesterday, both the Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints were considered frontrunners for the ex-Texans QB. However, in a stunning turn of events, Watson selected the Browns.

The Browns paid a premium to acquire Deshaun Watson, as they traded multiple picks and assets. They also made sure that Watson would get paid even if he is sanctioned by the league or other authorities. From a purely football perspective, this move makes so much sense. However, Watson's baggage has turned off many fans from supporting the team. Will this move pan out well for the team? Only time will tell.
