Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb caught himself as the subject of a controversial accusation that alleged him being paid to stay for his senior year at the University of Georgia. Chubb shut down the scandalous accusation on Twitter with a rather logical reason.

Nobody wants fake news in this day and age. Clearly, the Browns running back didn't appreciate it.

For context, a privately recorded leaked conversation between Valdosta (Georgia) High School football coach Rush Propst and ex-Valdosta Touchdown club director Michael “Nub” Nelson went viral. In the video, Propst laid out several instances of Georgia and Alabama making recruitment payments in the sum of up to $100,000. Among the players he mentioned was Chubb, whom Propst alleged received a sum of $180,000 in three equal increments to stay as a Bulldog.

Chubb helped the University of Georgia reach the National Championship game in his senior campaign. However, they lost the title game to the Alabama Crimson Tide, 26-23, in overtime.

The Browns drafted Chubb with the 35th overall pick in 2018 after a standout college career. In just three NFL seasons, Chubb has been named a Pro-Bowler two times and became a huge part of Cleveland's stellar 2020 campaign that saw the franchise win its first playoff game since 1994. In 12 appearances in 2020, Chubb rushed for 1,067 yards and recorded 12 touchdowns.

As for his bag, Chubb likely won't have a lot of trouble eventually getting a large payday, considering the promising start he's had to his NFL career. The 25-year old is still under his rookie deal with the Browns, where he will earn $3.38 million in 2021, but should get a large extension after next year.
