Cleveland Browns starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor will undergo more tests on a left hand injury he suffered against the Philadelphia Eagles, per the Associated Press.
Taylor hurt his hand in the first quarter Thursday night as he fell out of bounds after throwing an incomplete pass. He left the game for two series to get checked out but returned to finish up the first half.
Browns coach Hue Jackson said after the game that X-rays taken on Taylor's hand were negative. However, Taylor will undergo more tests Friday to determine the true extent of Taylor’s injury.
“Anytime your quarterback gets nicked like that, you are always concerned, but I think the fact that he was able to go back into the game was a good sign,” Jackson said. “I know we will make sure that we take care of it this week, whatever that is, and get him back to where he needs to be. I feel comfortable and confident that he is going to be OK, and that will happen.”
Jackson also confirmed that Taylor was cleared by the team's medical staff before returning to the game.
“I was aware of it, but obviously our medical people said he was fine and he could be out there,” Jackson said. “We wouldn’t have put him back out there if he wasn’t. Again we’ll check everything tonight and see where he is, but hopefully everything will be OK.”
Taylor finished 11-of-15 for 65 yards before sitting out the entire second half.
Obviously, the fact that Taylor didn’t suffer any broken bones should be a huge relief for the Browns. Although, they still need to await the results of the upcoming tests before they can completely relax about their starting quarterback.
