The Cleveland Browns managed to add some serious stability under center with the addition of quarterback Tyrod Taylor this offseason. Needless to say, Taylor has not forgotten about his unceremonial departure from the Buffalo Bills.

He will not have to wait long to see them again with their Week 2 preseason matchup on Friday. According to Nate Ulrich of the Beacon Journal, Taylor is admittedly using his snub from Buffalo as added motivation:

“Definitely how I think it ended there, it’s motivation for this year,” Taylor said Tuesday before the 14th practice of training camp.

Taylor had been a legitimate starting quarterback for the Bills over the last several seasons. However, head coach Sean McDermott made it clear last season that they were looking to go in a different direction. Despite McDermott's failed experiments under center, Taylor still managed to lead the bills to their first playoff appearance in 17 years. That said, it is easy to see why there are some hard feelings left over.

Fortunately, the Browns have wasted no time in designating him the starter for the time being. They acquired Taylor knowing full well that they were likely going to select another quarterback with the first overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

However, they made it clear that Taylor would be the starter while they develop their future franchise quarterback in Baker Mayfield. While the inevitability of his departure remains unknown, the veteran has a chance to show the rest of the league — and the Bills — that he is still a reliable starter.
