During this past season, there was a push around the league with players from several teams deciding to take a knee prior to the performance of the national anthem that created a stir. Among those was the Dallas Cowboys guided by team owner Jerry Jones choosing to take a team-unified kneel prior to the Week 3 game against the Arizona Cardinals.
According to TMZ Sports, there was reportedly some internal conflict around that decision to kneel that saw some disgruntlement toward president Donald Trump's strong stance against teams going that route.

It's all part of a docuseries featuring the Cowboys called “All or Nothing,” which featured a look inside a real team conversation surrounding the anthem protest.
The decision by Jones to show the unity of the team during a time where kneeling was a prevalent action done around the league. It was simply done to follow suit with what had occurred with the other organization that same weekend.
It has continued to be a touchy subject with many taking strong standpoints on both sides of the situation. Although the league has moved away from that topic, there are many players around the NFL that have voiced their opinions about that issue. At this point, there is no certainty of how this will continue to be handled moving forward next season and beyond.
