Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys has been one of the best defensive players in all of football this season. He is most certainly a defensive player of the year candidate, which would be impressive for a rookie to win that award.

What Parsons does for the Cowboys is simply Irreplaceable as he is the anchor of the defense and offers a bunch of versatility.

Clarence Hill Jr, who is a Cowboys writer, reported that Micah Parsons had this to say about potentially being the defensive player of the year, but not having the same stats to compete with Pittsburgh Steelers star, T.J. Watt,

“I take complete pride in being the most versatile player in the NFL.”

This is an interesting take from Parsons but he isn't necessarily wrong because he does offer a bunch of versatility for the Cowboys. He's a very good pass-rusher when he is called on to blitz and also does many other things for the Cowboys' defense.

It will be interesting to see who wins this award, but likely it will be T.J. Watt just because he is going to potentially break the all-time sack award in NFL history. He has 21.5 sacks on the season and if he just has one more, he will break the season record for most sacks in NFL history.

That doesn't take anything away from what the Cowboys rookie sensation has been able to do as Parsons also has a great chance of winning this award.
