The Dallas Cowboys have been sorely missing a top-caliber receiving weapon for quarterback Dak Prescott this season. That’s why they swung a blockbuster deal with the Oakland Raiders for wide receiver Amari Cooper.

Prescott was obviously thrilled with “getting a new toy” in Cooper and is excited about all the things he can bring to the table for the Cowboys’ offense.

“I was like ‘dang, that's sweet,'” Prescott said per Kate Hairopolous of The Dallas Morning News. “When you add a player like that, he's explosive, and his talent speaks for himself. Everybody's excited. Guys on defense are excited, DBs are, everyone is. We just know what he can bring, he's another weapon.”

Cooper is a two-time Pro Bowler after posting back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in his first two years in the league. However, he’d been having a less than stellar season with the Raiders, grabbing just 22 balls for 280 yards and a touchdown.

But clearly, he has shown the ability to be a No. 1-caliber receiver and the Cowboys are counting on him to rediscover that form in Dallas.

Prescott doesn’t think that forming a connection with Cooper despite the wideout’s midseason arrival will be all that tough. They will have the benefit of a bye this week to work on their chemistry.

Prescott warns that Cooper’s arrival won’t be “the magic pill” that cures all of the Cowboys’ ills on offense. Still, having another talented weapon at his disposal should help Prescott and the Cowboys toward a playoff push this season.
