Contrary to rumors that have suggested otherwise, the Dallas Cowboys have not inquired about trading for Cleveland Browns running back Duke Johnson, according to Mike Fisher of 247 Sports.

The Cowboys are in the market for a backup running back and the Browns do seem to be making Johnson available for trade, so it's easy to connect the dots, but as of right now, it doesn't seem like Dallas is all that interested.

This past season, Johnson rushed for 201 yards while averaging five yards per carry. He was more of a threat in the passing game, however, hauling in 47 receptions for 429 yards and three touchdowns.

Such has been the case for the 25-year-old over the first four years of his NFL career.

Johnson, who played his collegiate football at the University of Miami, was originally selected by the Browns in the third round (77th pick overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He played in all 16 games during his rookie campaign, rushing for 379 yards. But, as stated earlier, Johnson's bread and butter came as a receiver out of the backfield, as he caught 61 passes for 534 yards and a couple of scores.

The following season, Johnson totaled 358 yards and a touchdown on the ground while snaring 53 balls for 514 yards through the aerial game.

Then, in 2017, the Miami native registered 348 yards and four scores as a rusher and recorded 74 catches for 693 yards while reaching the end zone three times as a receiver.

The Cowboys are coming off of a season in which they won 10 games and won the NFC East division title.

They lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
