The Dallas Cowboys are still in on former Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas, so it appears. According to a recent report from Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the Cowboys are “by no means out” in terms of the team's interest in potentially signing Thomas, who is an unrestricted free agent, this offseason.

However, there are definitely other teams in the mix for the veteran safety's services, a list that notably includes the San Francisco 49ers, a divisional rival of the aforementioned Seahawks. As a result, this could ultimately become quite the bidding war in the end with more and more teams seemingly showing interest in the former Seattle defensive back.

Perhaps not putting things favorably for Thomas financially speaking, there is a tremendous amount of firepower on the free agent market when it comes to safeties. Adding to this notion, the Cowboys are reportedly interested in possibly adding former New York Giants safety Landon Collins as well.

“Cowboys front office source indicates that Earl Thomas is preferable to Landon Collins, if they’re going to sign a free agent safety,” writes Mike Leslie of WFAA. “That jives, obviously, with their personnel, and where they’ve had success in the last year or so in their secondary.”

One thing is for sure in Dallas, though, the Cowboys need some defensive help to aid the team's sometimes potent offensive attack. The Cowboys will be looking to return to the postseason come 2019-20, while there will surely be a few new faces in Dallas by the time next season gets underway.
