Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott may be looking for a new deal, and rumors of him potentially holding out are persisting, but Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is expecting Elliott in training camp this weekend:

“Yeah, we anticipate that,” Garrett said, according to Rob Phillips of the Cowboys' official team website. “I’ve heard nothing different on that.”

Elliott is on track to make $3.85 million in 2019, and in 2020, he is scheduled to earn $9.1 million from the fifth-year option Dallas picked up.

The 24-year-old is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he led the league with 1,434 rushing yards, adding six touchdowns while averaging 4.7 yards per carry. In addition, he hauled in 77 receptions for 567 yards and three scores en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

Elliott, who played his collegiate football at Ohio State, was originally selected by the Cowboys with the fourth overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He went on to play in 15 games during his rookie year, racking up an NFL-best 1,631 yards while also scoring 15 touchdowns on the ground, registering 5.1 yards per attempt. He also caught 32 passes for 363 yards and a score, making the Pro Bowl and earning a First-Team All-Pro selection as a result.

Elliott was then limited to just 10 games in 2017 as a result of a six-game suspension, but while he was on the field, he managed to post 983 yards while reaching the end zone seven times as a rusher, recording 4.1 yards per carry.

He snared 26 balls for 269 yards and a couple of touchdowns, as well.
