Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper has been sidelined for quite some time with a foot injury, but head coach Jason Garrett doesn't seem too concerned, saying that Cooper is “day to day,” according to David Helman of the Cowboys' official team website.
Cooper is obviously a huge part of Dallas' offense, so the Cowboys need to protect him at all costs.
Dallas originally acquired Cooper midway through the 2018 campaign, sending a first-round draft pick to the Oakland Raiders in return for his services.
Cooper played in nine games with the Cowboys this past year, catching 53 passes for 725 yards and six touchdowns. Over the course of the season overall, he hauled in 75 receptions for 1,005 yards and seven scores en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.
The 25-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Alabama, was originally selected by the Raiders with the fourth overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft.
Article Continues BelowHe appeared in all 16 contests during his rookie year and was terrific, snaring 72 balls for 1,070 yards while reaching the end zone six times, making the Pro Bowl as a result.
Cooper followed that up with another tremendous in 2016, participating in all 16 games and registering 83 catches for 1,153 yards and five touchdowns, making the Pro Bowl yet again.
But, in 2017, Cooper struggled mightily, finishing with just 48 receptions for 680 yards and seven scores over 14 contests, dropping a lot of passes and hearing boos from the Oakland faithful in the process.
It seems like all Cooper needed was a change of scenery, as he excelled with the Cowboys in 2018.
