Jason Garrett has been the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys for seven seasons and his team has only made the playoffs two times. Even with such little success Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has made it clear that Garrett is not on the hot seat. Jones was asked at his last press conference if this was a playoff or bust to keep Garrett's job safe.

“No. That’s the best answer I can give, and the fairest,” Jones said via Pro Football Talk.

Since Jones has taken over as the owner of the Cowboys he has been known to have a short leash with his coaches, but this time it's different.

Garrett has gone 67-53 since taking over and for America's team, some have thought that isn't good enough. This year's Cowboys team is a young team and it's a very tough NFC this year. Jones seemed to acknowledge that and maybe even set up some excuses if Garrett isn't able to get the team into the playoffs.

“We have a lot of confidence in Jason. We think he’s put together a strong staff, and we can go out and really have success this year. Now this is a young football team. Three players over 30 and two of them are specialists. Sean [Lee] is the only [position player] over 30. Half of this football team wasn’t here last year.”

If the Cowboys fail to make the playoffs there is going to be a lot of talk about if a coaching change needs to be made. For now, Jones seems to be content with Garrett no matter what happens this season.
