There is no question that Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett had been in a bit of a hot seat prior to the 2018 NFL season. However, team owner Jerry Jones insists that he does not need to worry about job security.

Dallas is still in the midst of making some significant changes to their coaching staff. According to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, confirmed that Garrett is not in danger of losing his job:

“The reason that it’s not being talked about is not that Jason is on shaky ground,” Jones told the radio station of the Cowboys’ coaching changes. “. . .It’s just we’re putting together ideas and didn’t want to necessarily make that a featured topic around the Super Bowl. Everything is as it should be.”

The 2018 campaign was a bit of a deciding year for Garrett and the Cowboys. It is no secret that they have fallen vastly short of expectations in recent years. Early on, it appeared as though they were on their way to another disastrous year until they were able to find their rhythm down the final stretch of the season. Although the Cowboys lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the playoffs, there is still plenty of positives to take away.

Of course, it is safe to assume that expectations are now higher than ever. Unfortunately, Garrett's track record as does not do him any favors. The Cowboys have made the playoffs just three times in nearly nine seasons under his leadership. His 2-3 postseason record shows that they were not able to do much once they were in. With one year left on his contract, it will be interesting to see if Jones backs up his words by offering him an extension this offseason.
