The Dallas Cowboys' disappointing loss to the San Francisco 49ers has opened the media floodgates in Dallas. Questions and rumors have swirled around the organization, particularly regarding the status of head coach Mike McCarthy. Amid fans clamoring for McCarthy's firing, the Cowboys head coach made a strong statement via ESPN.

“I understand what goes on here every day. I know how to win. I know how to win in this league. I know how to win playoff games. I know how to win a championship. So I have great confidence in that. What we've built here in two seasons, I feel very good about, and I think with that you just stay true to that. The hard part is the personal. We all have kids, so that's the part that I don't like. I would hope people are respectful to that.”

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy may have made some questionable decisions at times, but he's absolutely right in what he said regarding the speculation of his firing. McCarthy does know how to win, as he has compiled a 143-92-2 career head coaching record, including a Super Bowl title with the Green Bay Packers.

McCarthy also makes a great point about the personal aspect of those speaking about his firing. He has a family, which would have to be uprooted if his job status changed. It's something that isn't considered enough.

The reality is, if the Cowboys listened to the McCarthy firing noise and let him go, some NFL team would scoop him up in an instant on account of his resume. So, McCarthy, who has confidence in what Dallas “has built”, will go back to the drawing board next year, in all likelihood, as the head coach of the franchise.
