The roster cutdown date is quickly approaching. On August 31 all teams will have to have their roster down to their final 53 players. That means there's going to be a lot of players out of jobs or finding new homes soon enough. However, the Dallas Cowboys might take advantage of the situation.
Vice President Stephen Jones says they would consider making a trade before that official cutdown date.
Cowboys VP Stephen Jones on trade talk before Aug. 31 roster cutdown: “We do get calls on both the offensive and defensive line. We’ve made that a priority over the years, and it’s a strength of ours. Teams are interested in it.” Such a trade is “a possibility, for sure.”

This makes a lot of sense for the Dallas Cowboys. They have indeed built up their offensive and defensive lines wonderfully. That's given them a ton of depth and means they'll likely have to cut players other teams wouldn't.
So why cut them when you could trade them before that's even necessary?
No, the Cowboys likely aren't talking about trading any superstar players, but they could be trading very nice depth pieces or players that could even start on a few teams.
Since it's so close to the cutdown date, teams likely won't offer all that much. The Cowboys probably won't be able to get a King's Ransom for anyone as any team they're dealing with would understand that same player will be cut a few days later and they can just try to sign him them.
However, the advantage would be that this would guarantee the player is with them then. If teams wait until the Cowboys cut players, then they suddenly have to try and sign this player that any number of other teams are also making pitches at. If a team truly wants someone that much they could decide it's worth parting with a late-round pick to get their services from Dallas.
Stephen Jones played this perfectly too. Now teams are aware that the Dallas Cowboys are willing to hear trade offers. At the same time though, he simply said there's a possibility they'd make a trade. That makes it seem as if they aren't all that worried and if no deals happen it doesn't hurt them.
This puts all the power in the Cowboys' hands.
Now it's up to other teams to pursue them and wow them if they really want a deal done.
