Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is now better known for his work as a commentator, but recent rumors suggest he may become an OC.
According to Yahoo! News, Romo has been rumored to be in the running for an offensive coordinator position with his former team, the Cowboys.
But Romo recently put those rumors to rest, saying that he is “happy” with where he is and what he's doing right now.
“They'll have to wait. I'm sure one day I'll coach. Right now, I'm happy with where I’m at.”
While Romo was a successful quarterback during his tenure with the Cowboys, he never served in an official coaching capacity with the Cowboys or any other team.
Article Continues BelowHe has, however, successfully served as a commentator for CBS. The network is reportedly in talks to offer Romo a contract extension to keep him on for another few years.
Reports suggest that Romo is worth about $4 million annually. However, that rate could go up significantly based on his performance during the Super Bowl, and the demand for his services next season.
Romo spent his entire 14-season NFL career with the Cowboys. He was selected to the Pro Bowl four times and led the NFL in passing rating in 2014 before an injury and the emergence of current Dallas starter Dak Prescott led to his retirement.
It should be interesting to see how Romo ultimately plays out with his career behind the mic, or if he does, in fact, move to a coaching position.
