It’s been a while since quarterback Dak Prescott last played for the Dallas Cowboys, but according to reports, his return to the football field could come soon.
While negotiations between Prescott and the Cowboys regarding a long-term contract continue, his rehabilitation from a compound fracture and dislocation in his right knee has been going well. In fact, the 27-year-old could be fully healthy by April, and that he could fully be involved in all of the team’s offseason work, according to CowboysSI.com's Mike Fisher.
Prescott has not played since suffering the leg injury in the Cowboys’ Week 5 win over the New York Giants back in October. The injury prematurely ended what had been a brilliant season, and he underwent surgery and has since been preparing for a return to the field.

Fisher’s report also clarifies the second surgery performed on Prescott as merely for “strengthening and clean-up” and will not delay his comeback. The Cowboys organization, meanwhile, expects the Mississippi State product to be fully in the spring and show no after-effects of the injury.
As he continues to recover from injury, the talks between the quarterback and the team continue regarding a possible contract extension. The Cowboys could put a franchise tag on Dak Prescott for the second straight season for $37.7 million while talks continue, but it could also limit their flexibility when it comes to signing other players in free agency as they look to improve their lineup after last season’s disappointing finish.
