Jason Witten may want to return to the Dallas Cowboys, but the feeling doesn't seem to be mutual.

According to Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News, Witten is not expected to be with the Cowboys in 2020.

Should Witten and Dallas fail to come to terms, it would mark the first time in the tight end's career that he will play for another team, assuming that he doesn't retire (he has said he wants to play at least another year and is open to other options).

The 37-year-old is coming off of a 2019 campaign in which he played every game and logged 63 catches for 529 yards and four touchdowns.

Witten, who played his collegiate football at the University of Tennessee, was originally selected by the Cowboys in the third round (69th pick overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft.

It didn't take long for Witten to stamp his name among the best tight ends in football, as he made the Pro Bowl as soon as his second season after hauling in 87 receptions for 980 yards and six scores.

That began a stretch of seven straight Pro Bowl appearances for Witten, and during that time, he also earned a couple of First-Team All-Pro selections.

Overall, Jason Witten has made 11 trips to the Pro Bowl and has tallied four 1,000-yard campaigns throughout his illustrious NFL career, making him one of the best tight ends to ever play the game.

The Elizabethton, Tn. native stepped away from football for one year in 2018 before deciding to return to the Cowboys in 2019.
