Running away from your problems is never a good idea, especially with a bum knee.

It's been an interesting week for Dez Bryant in the news. On Tuesday, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said that Dez was yet to have an MRI on his injured knee, a protocol that usually occurs on Mondays. Finally, Bryant got the MRI on Wednesday, revealing a hairline fracture that will only keep him out 1-3 weeks. He could even play this week, but it's unlikely.

But, there was a missing piece to the story that head coach Jason Garrett has now filled in. While talking with reporters today, Garrett revealed that Bryant actually was scheduled to have an MRI on Monday, but he missed it before skipping out on a pair of team meetings.

From Jeff Cavanaugh:

“Dez Bryant missed an MRI and a treatment on Monday. He missed a team meeting on Tuesday, and he was not at a meeting Wednesday.”

The reason? He feared the diagnosis would be much worse:

“He really thought that he was gonna get some bad news when he got the MRI on Monday morning, so he … avoided it, and he didn't come in and take care of his business on Monday or Tuesday.”

According to USA TODAY Sports, Bryant has been fined for his actions:

“I'm not excusing his behavior. There are repercussions for your actions,” Garrett said.
