Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is known for having a quick hook when it comes to head coaches, but Jason Garrett has been different.

Since Garrett took over the Cowboys midway through the 2010 campaign, he has led Dallas to three NFC East division titles, but he has generated just two playoff wins and has yet to make it past the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

As a result, many fans and media members have questioned why he still has a job, and the Cowboys' three-game losing streak after a 3-0 start to this season made Garrett's seat hotter than ever.

However, Dallas came away with a pivotal blowout victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night, buying Garrett at least another week.

As for Jones? He really likes Garrett and wants to keep him long term:

“I am looking for reasons. I’m looking for reasons to keep him,” Jones said when asked about Garrett's future in Dallas, according to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. “It’s merited here. It’s hard to get an effective coach and get it locked in with all you have to do retool and redo. I’m comfortable. We have established some security apart from the won-loss. He represents the organization well on and off the field. You don’t have to wake up in the morning reading about it.”

Jones was not just speaking about the remainder of this season, but he was also referring to the years beyond, as Garrett's contract expires after this season concludes.

So why not just extend Garrett now then?

“Do you need my health examination as well? Or my health record?” Jones quipped when asked that question. “I’m not going to talk about that, and you know I’m not. Really, I’m not.”

The Cowboys are currently 4-3 and sit atop the NFC East.
