The entire Dallas Cowboys franchise was left in shambles after quarterback Dak Prescott went down with a freak injury and was eventually carted off the field. The incident occurred in the second half of their Week 5 game against the New York Giants.

Backup playmaker Andy Dalton took over in lieu of Prescott's absence and led the team to win on a 37-34 outcome en route to grabbing their second win of the season.

Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones penned a message to Prescott in response to the situation, as posted by ESPN's Adam Schefter:

Prescott left the game with a tally of 166 passing yards on 14-of-21 passes completed. He even caught his first ever NFL touchdown to give the Cowboys a 24-20 lead to end the first half with a play similar to the famed “Philly Special”. Meanwhile, Dalton generated 111 passing yards of his own on an efficient 9/11 passing clip while filling in for Prescott.

Running back Ezekiel Elliott was able to hit his strides and ran 91 rushing yards on 20 carries and two scored rushing touchdowns. Rookie wide receiver CeeDee Lamb also had a huge night as he produced 124 receiving yards on eight receptions for the Cowboys.

The former Mississippi State product was already having a productive campaign under center for America's Team after failing to secure a long-term agreement with the front office during the offseason. He has tallied impressive numbers in each of their first four games of the 2020 NFL season but only resulted to a win and three losses.

Hopefully, the fifth-year veteran will be able to have a swift recovery and get back on the field for the Cowboys as soon as possible.
