The Dallas Cowboys are looking to get back into the win column at home against the Green Bay Packers in Week 5. Head coach Jason Garrett knows full well that trying to contain quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be a tall task.
There are not very many ways to make a quarterback of Rodgers' caliber feel uncomfortable. According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, Garrett acknowledged that he has very few weaknesses in his game:
“He's really good in the pocket. He's really good out of the pocket. He's really good on time. He's really good when the play breaks down. He is. Go back and look at his career. You guys know the stats better than I do. I bet his rating is better than anybody who has ever played the game. His touchdown to interception ratio better than anybody who has ever played the game. All that stuff. He's a really good player.”
This is certainly some high praise coming from Garrett. It is safe to say that most would agree with his comments regarding Rodgers' status as an elite quarterback. The pressure is now on Dallas to find a way to limit his production this week.
Garrett will be relying heavily on his edge rush duo in Robert Quinn and DeMarcus Lawrence to close the pocket around him in an attempt to avoid him from extending the play. They managed to combine for 3.0 sacks against the New Orleans Saints in Week 4. Regardless, bringing down Rodgers should prove to be much more difficult.
Dallas could take solace in the fact that his No. 1 wide receiver in Davante Adams still has yet to practice this week meaning he could potentially be sidelined for their matchup.
