The Detroit Lions Week 14 matchup with the Denver Broncos has them in a very bad situation. With multiple players out due to injury, a flu bug going around the team, and only one win on the year, the Lions are looking weaker than ever. Detroit is going to be without their best player (D'Andre Swift,) their best pass-catcher (T.J. Hockenson,) and even their backup running back (Jamaal Williams.)

This has led to the Lions being installed as eight and a half point favorites on the road this weekend in a game in which the Broncos will be honoring former wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 33. That should give the Broncos an emotional edge…as if they need any more of an advantage over the one-win Lions. Here are four bold predictions from Sunday's Lions-Broncos game from Detroit's perspective.

Lions Week 14 Predictions

4. Jared Goff will throw two touchdowns

This one may seem a little difficult to fathom because Denver has one of the best secondaries in the league and the Lions are hurting badly on offense. The team will be forced to pass the ball a lot, however, as even though the Lions receiving corps is banged up including Hockenson, the running back room is hurting even more.

3. Jared Goff will throw two picks

This one seems a little easier to come by, as Goff has struggled against teams that play this type of coverage in the past. Vic Fangio famously was the first one to play a five-man front against Goff and Bill Belichick then used it in the Super Bowl against him. Even in his new digs, he can still be taken down the same way and Fangio knows that.

2. Josh Reynolds will score a touchdown

For two straight games since being claimed off of waivers from the Tennesee Titans, Josh Reynolds has been the Lions' best wide receiver. That has been from a stats and a scouting perspective. He will finally be rewarded for his hard work this week with a touchdown. Goff and Reynolds have played their entire careers together up until Reynolds signed with Tennessee this past spring.

1. The Lions will not cover the spread

The eight and a half points are very inviting but you have to consider the Lions' state of injury and sickness around the team. They are also traveling over a thousand miles West to take on a team that is still technically going for a playoff spot. Denver knows they do not have very many easy wins on their schedule so they will be on high alert this week for the upset. For all of those reasons we think you should take the eight and a half points and lay them with the Broncos. A final score of 24-6 would not be surprising at all. even though the weather is not going to be very bad, the Broncos will still have a huge home-field advantage and will be playing in the memory of Thomas.
