In the wake of the recent school shooting in Florida, the world is much more aware of potential threats. When they are seen online or anywhere else, people are reporting them. Authorities appear to be taking them much more seriously and it applies to everybody.

When former Miami Dolphins lineman Jonathan Martin posted a threatening photo on Instagram, the police were notified. Martin is in custody now, according to Matt Stone of ABC News.

ESPN’s Jenna Laine has since reported that he is being held at a mental health facility in Southern California.

In his post, Martin wrote, “When you’re a bully victim & a coward, your options are suicide, or revenge.” He then added #MiamiDolphins and #HarvardWestlake, his former team and former high school. He also tagged the two guys accused of bullying when he played in Miami, Mike Pouncey and Richie Incognito.

After learning of the post, the school (located in California) shut down for the day.

“Last evening, we learned of an Internet post that mentions Harvard-Westlake by name,” the school said in a statement (via Pro Football Talk). “Out of an abundance of caution, and because the safety of our students, faculty, and staff is our top priority, we made the decision to close school today. We are working closely with law enforcement and will share more information when we are able.”

The bullying incident hat happened to him during his time with the Dolphins likely derailed his NFL career. When he retired, he talked about being depressed and feeling suicidal. Clearly, from the time the scandal erupted in 2013 until he retired in 2015, he didn't get any help. What help he did get wasn't enough.

Hopefully, this time he gets it. Thankfully someone reported his post before he could have acted on what it implied.
